Tips on what to wear on the day of your photoshoot

Yay! Photoshoot day is coming, it can be exciting and stressful all at the same time. Especially if you're the one that plans out everyone else's outfits for that day. But I'm here to help make things a little easier for you!

If it's just you taking photos-

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in! No need to worry about matching anybody else's colors. Of course, dress for the occasion/season. Let your personality shine through your style. Say no to characters, text or neon colors within your outfit though.

If there are multiple of you-
  • Dress for the season, if its colder wear a sweater, thick shirt or a nice jacket you like.
  • Choose a color palette of three or four complimentary colors (think neutral grays, browns, creams.)
  • Start with one statement piece and build off the colors in that, most often mom's outfit.
  • Classic patterns are best (don't wear large busy patterns.)
  • Logo's, characters and neon colors are NOT recommended. The focus should be you and your loved ones, not the characters or obnoxious colors on your shirt.
  • Mixing fabric textures can add dimension and originality to your photos- cotton, knits, lace, silk.
  • Add in your personal style to finish the outfit, accessories, ties, belts, etc.
  • Double check your wrists before you leave the house. If you don't want hair ties, you Apple Watch or bracelets in the pictures, leave them at home so you don't have to worry about losing them or stuffing them in your pockets during the shoot.

If you don't know where to start, think about how your home is styled. You will most likely have these family photos up on you wall at some point. Let your personality come through your outfit but also wear something you are comfortable in and aren't constantly re-adjusting or worrying about a wardrobe malfunction.
